Poetry Pie

About the show

Take a slice out of the poetry pie, scoop up the delicious filling and be prepared to be taken to a fantastically imaginative and sometimes peculiar poetic world – each mouth-watering bite bestowing a deliciously different poetic flavour.

To start with, it’s a pretty normal pie until the children start adding some very special ingredients – it’s amazing the difference a sprinkling of rhyme, heaps of imagination and lashings of laughter make. They wait with anticipation as the pie cooks and when it is cool enough they can’t wait to try a piece. It is delicious... and transports them into the magical and poetic animated world.

Roger McGough’s title poem starts the journey into this charming world which features poems especially written by popular contemporary poets as well as poems by children.

The five segments of the Poetry Pie represent the different animated styles used across the series, and all the poems are voiced by children, with a wonderful music score that embellishes this enchanting rhythmic world. Charlie the alien, Amber the hermit crab, Mischa the hamster, Evie the cow and Findlay the dragon perform the poems – all chosen to reflect the lives of children watching at home.

With a fresh and modern style of animation, Poetry Pie is the perfect series to excite and engage children while introducing them to a rhythmic and lyrical world.
